Pip is the fifth generation of his family to farm in the Troutbeck Valley and so has a wealth of knowledge of the area. He built the current house and farm buildings on this site in the 1990s. Hannah is Pip’s partner and she works locally as a surveyor as well as on the farm. Between us we have four children ranging from 6 to 32!
We farm Luing cattle which originate from the Isle of Luing in Scotland. They are a native breed which graze extensively on the fells above the farm. We also have a flock of Aberfield x ewes producing lambs to sell to lowland farms. The farm is managed extensively through a ‘low imput, low output’ system and we are in a Higher Level Countryside Stewardship Scheme to help maintain and enhance the environment.
We are a family friendly luxury site based on a working farm in the centre of the Lake District National Park. With excellent access from junction 36 of the M6, we are situated at the top of the beautiful Troutbeck Valley, with views down Windermere Lake.
